Charity

In addition to choosing some of our suppliers in part because of the excellent charity work that they do, (a great example of this is Who Gives A Crap, who we buy all of our loo roll and tissues from, and who use a large percentage of their own profits to build toilets in the developing world - https://uk.whogivesacrap.org/pages/our-impact ) we at Elmswood House also support some charities directly. As a tourism business, we are keenly aware of depending on a clean, healthy and vibrant Cornwall for our livelihoods, so it is important to us to contribute, financially as well as through promotion, to some of those charities that are helping make sure this is the case. These are some of the places we have chosen to give some of our profits, to enable good work to be done, for people and for the planet.

Cornwall Wildlife Trust

Our vision is for a Cornwall that is rich in all wildlife, where people enjoy and care about the natural world and take steps to safeguard it for the future. https://www.cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk/

Clean Cornwall

We are a partnership, working together for a cleaner Cornwall that everyone can enjoy.  Our partnership includes a mix of local authority, volunteer and community groups and local businesses. We come together to discuss environmental issues that the county is facing in regards to litter, and ways in which we can work together to solve them. https://www.cleancornwall.org/who-we-are.php

Cornwall Air Ambulance

It is rare to meet anyone in Cornwall who doesn’t have a personal connection to the lifesaving efforts of the Cornwall Air Ambulance. Contributions from the public are an essential part of the funding to keep this service going.

Par Track

An athletics track and playing fields owned by the council were at risk of closure and being turned into a housing development, so the community came together to save them. Now, Par Track is again a thriving hub at the heart of the community, with a busy cafe, a gym, plenty of indoor and outdoor fitness options, and a great venue for community events. Visitors can get passes for use of the gym, or the track, and any fitness classes while you are here. Not to mention visiting a great spot for an afternoon tea, knowing that money spent here is helping a community take responsibility for its own facilities.
